Stüb' Coutüre (2010)

Is it possible to create a 'site specific' costume? This was the question when Helene Høm, in the spring of 2010, made the performance "Stüb ' Coutüre" to ' Wechselstube, Raum für ortsspezifisches '  in Zurich, Switzerland. Based on a cherry-lined living room with creaking floors and opening to the kitchen, she created a performance about life as a housewife in the German-speaking countries of the 1920es. German "schlagers", a large lump of baking dough, an apron made of wood imitation, a bridal veil and a proper sprinkle of flour was part of the project. Costume and performance: Helene Høm   ' Wechselstube, Raum für ortsspezifisches ': For a period of time the dramaturg Fanti Baum (DE) made a performative space in a historic flat in Zürich, planned to be demolished few months later. Various artists from Zurich and Berlin made performances based on the premises of the location during spring 2010, before the place turned into dust.

Can you make a site specific costume?
The question led to the performance "Stüb' Coutüre" for 'Wechselstube, Raum für Ortsspezifisches' in Zurich, Switzerland. Starting from a living room with creaky floors and cherry wooden walls, I created a performance about the life of a housewife in the German-speaking countries in the 1920's. German schlagers, a large lump of baking dough, a wooden laminate apron, a bridal veil and a generous amount of flour were all part of the performance.

Wechselstube, Room for site specifics: Dramaturg Fanti Baum (DE) discovered a historic apartment from the 1920s that was due for demolition. In the meantime, she created a performative space called "Wechsel Stube" in the abandoned flat, where various artists from Zurich and Berlin created performances based on the unique style and aesthetics of the apartment.
